About the Team
Rev Iain MacAskill has been the minister in Rosskeen (north of Inverness) for four years. He planted a church in South Uist and Benbecula and served there for 12 years before accepting the call to Rosskeen. The Rosskeen congregation is currently planting a new church in Alness in The Capstone Centre.
Rev Jonathan Keefe is minister of Robroyston Church of Scotland, Glasgow. He and his wife, Judith, have been married for ten years. They lost their first baby, Charis, in 2007 and have had subsequent losses. They have two boys and a girl. Judith runs the website, www.undertherainbow.org.uk, a Christian resource for the loss of a baby, infertility, adoption and fostering.
Ann Allen is married to Martin. They adopted two baby boys and are now grandparents. Ann began working life as an English teacher, then combined motherhood with working alongside Martin in ministry at both a local and a national level.
Susanne Beitan runs Central Counselling Service which is based in the heart of Edinburgh. She has experience in working with a wide range of human and spiritual concerns including those who are struggling with infertility and loss. Susanne's work also includes the training and supervision of counsellors and of those involved in pastoral ministry.
Stuart and Kay Cathcart live in Edinburgh and have been married for 18 years. They adopted two children around four years ago so now have a feisty, affectionate eight year old girl and a responsible but very much pre-teen 12 year old boy! Stuart works for RBS and Kay is on the staff at Central Church, Edinburgh.
Dr Lena M Crichton is a Consultant Obstetrician. She trained in Glasgow and spent almost 13 years as a Fetal Medicine Consultant in the Queen Mothers Hospital before moving to her current post in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in 2007. Throughout this time her main areas of interest, research and expertise, have been directly related to miscarriage, early pregnancy complications and pregnancy loss. Lena has been a Christian for many years and currently attends Bon Accord Free Church, Aberdeen.
Susie Fraser has been married to Jonathan for ten years. She gave birth at full term to Iona in August 2008. Iona was born with a heart defect and sadly died when she was seven weeks, having spent that whole time in Yorkhill hospital. Susie went on to have two miscarriages. Susie and Jonathan now have two boys. Charlie, who is four and Angus, who is one.
John and Annette McCulloch have been married for ten years and have three children at home, Anna, Joseph Jude and David. Their first son, Benjamin died of a congenital cardiac defect 48 hours after he was born. They have also suffered the loss of four babies through miscarriage. Annette works as a part-time GP, and John gave up university lecturing in Hispanic Studies recently to train for full-time ministry in the Church of Scotland.
Al and Val MacInnes have been married for 15 years and are based in the Highlands. They have experience of infertility, infant loss and adoption. Al is a pastoral intern at Rosskeen Free Church, Alness.
Dr Marjory MacLean is a consultant obstetrician in Ayrshire Maternity Unit. She has specialised in the area of early pregnancy problems and miscarriage for over 20 years, and is passionate about care at the time of loss. She is a medical advisor to the Miscarriage Association and was Chairperson of the Scottish Early Pregnancy Network for 10 years. She was involved in the Scottish Government committee which brought in legislation that shared cremation is the minimum accepted standard following miscarriage. She lives in Glasgow and worships at Burnside Blairbeth Church of Scotland.
Dr Fiona Schneider is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and a fellow of the royal college of obstetricians and gynaecologists. She trained in London, Oxford and Leeds before moving to Germany where she worked in the local hospitals and then ran her own practice. Fiona is a member of All Saints Parish Church, Ilkley with a role as trainee reader, Pcc secretary and vulnerable persons officer. She served for two years as the northern England representative for the Christian medical fellowship and mentors and supports medical and nursing staff. Fiona seeks to live out her faith on the cutting edge of society and works for Wakefield contraceptive and sexual health service
John and Sue Thomson live in Aberdeen, worshipping at St. Columba's Church where Sue is the Children's worker. They have four children, one boy who is outnumbered by his three sisters. They have experienced the pain of losing three babies through miscarriage.
